What stood out to me the most in the
speech is part of the national anthem. “The land of the free and home of the
brave “, and when he said that it made me think why he say that. Maybe it’s
important to him and to the congress. There is another thing that he said,
“your own responsibility as a member of congress is to enable this country, by
your legislative activity, to grow as a nation “. And it made me think a little
more about this he Being negative towards congress or was he telling the truth.
The second thing that stood out to me was, that the pope said “you are the face
of the people, and he is talking about the representatives and how the common
good, for this is the chief of all politics.
And third of
all he takes about the work that the congress is doing and how it reflects in
two ways; on the figure of Moses. “On one Hand, the patriarch and lawgiver of
people of Israel symbolized the need of people to keep alive their sense of
unity by mean of just legislation. And on the other hand, the figure of Moses
leads directly to god and thus to the dignity of human being. Fourth of all he
says “we the people “to me he used a lot of references throughout history in
his speech. And he also said “our world is facing a refugee crises of magnitude
not seen since the second WWII,” then he takes about how people back then had
to travel north in search of greater opportunities. For a better life not just for them but for
their families.
In the new
republican article on the new republican .com says that Pope Francis's Speech
to Congress Will Backfire on Republicans? And that it will make this huge fuss about what
he said to congress to get then to pass some kind of law. And that there will be even for tension
between the two parties.
I liked how the National Anthem in the Pope's Speech as well.
ReplyDeletei liked how he talked about the pope being worried about our growing society
